It is our desire, for every student and family that come through the Mountain Program, that they will know God’s Big Story and how it is being told, created and played out in their lives. With this in mind, we have decided to partner with the Tru Curriculum from David C. Cook. For our Base Camp Program, we will be using Tru Wonder, and for The Mountain we will be using Tru Story.

Since partnering with parents is one of our highest principles, we want to do whatever we can to supply you with opportunities to succeed. Besides On Belay and other events, weekly and monthly handouts called HomeFront Weekly or HomeFront Monthly. In this video below, a glimpse of how to incorporate these into your home is discussed.

In addition to what the curriculum teaches, our Mountain (elementary) staff is being equipped to teach their groups certain Biblical knowledge and truths that will hopefully give your student a more well-rounded faith-based background. Grade-based, age-appropriate learning will soon become a hallmark of the Mountain; however, with an hour and fifteen minutes a week, we can only accomplish so much. Parents, we need you. Take these truths, learn them yourselves and help us teach them to your children.

1st Grade - The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
2nd Grade - The Books of the New Testament
3rd Grade - The Books of the Old Testament
4th Grade - The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20)
5th Grade - Telling their story...Preparing students to be able to share what Christ has done for them with others
6th Grade - Telling His Story...Using our Bible wall mural, being able to tell God’s Big Story

Bible Memorization

Psalm 119:1 (ESV) says, “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Scripture is clear, that memorizing God’s word is a beneficial exercise that will aid the way we live and worship. To that end, we have developed a memory verse structure that allows families to gauge where their students are at, and pursue memory goals that are suitable and attainable.

As a ministry, we will be focusing on one verse per unit. (Unit’s will be sets of 3-4 weeks that focus on particular themes and passages as we tell God’s story.) This will be the verse our Trail Guides are responsible for helping their groups learn.

For Unit 1, our Memory Verse is Ephesians 4:32. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

If Families would like to add additional memory work to supplement out Unit 1 Theme, there are two tracks.

Track 2 would be to add Exodus 3:14. God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.”

Track 3 would be to add Genesis 12:2-3 and Exodus 7:5 to Track 2.
Genesis 12:2-3 I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Exodus 7:5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.
