Wellness Policy

In an attempt to prevent the spread of illness, FBC Children’s Ministry asks that children who have exhibited symptoms of illness, have run a fever or have had colored nasal discharge within the past 24 hours do not attend FBC children’s programs.  Parents may be summoned to pick-up any child exhibiting symptoms of illness while in attendance at an FBC children’s ministry program.

When is the Mountain?

The Mountain is our weekend ministry to children, and occurs during each of our weekend services. Saturday evenings at 5:00pm and 7:00pm and Sunday mornings at 9:00 and 10:45.

The Nursery

Age Group: Birth through age 3 (after September 1st)

The Nursery is located just outside of our worship center on the west end of our lobby. We want to provide a safe place for our youngest attenders to bloom. The four nursery rooms are clean, equipped with age appropriate toys and books and divided into four age groups: 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-24 months and 24-36+ months. We have a new outdoor play area designed with fun and safety in mind. However, the Nursery is not just fun and games, although it is fun; it is also our belief that even our littlest members are not too young to experience God’s love through God’s story. Each week our nursery learns about their Maker and Savior adapting our Base Camp (Preschool) Curriculum to suit their age stage. Three year old children move into our Mountain program on promotion Sunday, the first Sunday after Labor Day.

Base Camp

Age Group: 3 years old by Sept 1st through Kindergarten.

Mountain exhibitions continue at Base Camp. Base Camp, using the climbing analogy, is where climbers gather supplies, receive final instruction before a climb and is where their journey begins. So it is with the Base Camp portion of our Mountain program.

Our Base Camp occurs at all four services and is for children ages 3 (by September 1st) – Kindergarten. Base Camp is located in the long hallway of the lower level. The Under the Sea room holds our 3 year olds. The Safari room is home to our 4 year olds (by September 1st), and our 5 year olds (by September 1st) and Kindergartners start their journey in the Forest room.

Never boring, our children begin their adventure with a large group puppet and song time that takes place in the Mountain room before returning to their rooms for their small group time. That’s right, even our preschool students are in small groups. We believe that if we can engage them in community at an early age, they will never want to live without it. In their small groups they play games, read stories, do crafts and eat snacks that are all centered on the lesson of the day.

As far as what they are learning, we use theTru Wonder Curriculum (click here for more information) which emphasizes telling God’s Big Story to kids, creating wonder in their hearts.

The Mountain

Age Group: 1st through 6th Grades

As the journey leaves Base Camp in the rear view mirror, the next goal is climbing the Mountain. These elementary years mimic well an actual Mountain expedition; parts are challenging, thrilling, exhilarating, deflating, stretching, but our desire is that final destination truly resembles summiting Mt. Sherman – breathtaking.

Our Mountain program also occurs at all weekend services and is for 1st-6th grade students. Our trail groups (broken up my grade and gender) meet in the specific areas to start the program before kicking off the service with worship and large group teaching. After our large group time is done, our groups move into a rotational time of small groups (trail groups) and activity time, before ending in the same place where they began.

As far as what they are learning, we use the Tru Story curriculum (click here for more information) which emphasizes God’s Big Story that he has written on our hearts and called us to be a part of.

On Belay (Parents + Kids)

"On Belay." Rock climbers use this phrase as a way of communicating that they are on the same page and that both are engaged and ready for their climb together. On Belay is the most valuable aspect of the Mountain, FBC's elementary children's program. This 15 minute program gets parents and their children on the same Biblical page and allows us to share ways and provide opportunities for Parents to win at home in their responsibility of being the primary spiritual voice in their child’s life. On Belay begins immediately after the worship services in the Children's Theater on the 2nd FULL weekend of the month.
